considering i'm blaring my headphones so loud it might make my ears bleed just so I can get my mind off certain aspects of my almost-love life (and by certain aspects I mean shitty everything) I think I'll do this to get my mind off of it a little less painfully. (Yes, my headphones ARE that loud.)

WOOOOOOOO (See the enthusiasm there? I'm HAPPY DAMMIT.)

1) Please post the rules in your journal.
2) Say your 5 favourite bands, 2 favourite songs by them, and what genre they are(If you know).
3) No tag-backs and the same person can't be tagged twice.
4) You have to tag at least 5 people. Random ones will do if you're desperate. But you can tag more.
5) Post the icons of your tagged people in your journal, and send them a message telling them they're tagged.

OKAY

First band I can think of is Anberlin but that's because I'm listening to them right now. And normally I'd say band number 2 is my favorite band of all time, but that's just because their songs are the first ones I learned how to play. I realized the other day that Anberlin's songs are the ones that REALLY pull an emotion out of me. That's not to say that Switchfoot's songs don't; in fact they do more than most. It's just that Anberlin's songs are the ones I listened to at such a crucial point in my life and everytime I hear a song from a certain period in my life it brings back memories so strongly I get lost in the music. Anberlin is, I believe simply Christian Rock. (Some say Alternative Rock. I say potato, potahto.)

The first song by them that does this to me is "Paperthin Hymn"... It's the one song I don't think I'll ever attempt to learn because it's too good for me to botch the song with my lack of musical talent on an instrument. (Singing I can do. Guitar, not so much. But I try anyway. Don't ask why.) The music video for this song is very emotional, and the period in my life when I first heard this song was from so so so long ago that I can't even remember the first time I've heard it. But there's a strong bittersweet feeling that goes with it, and I've never been able to just listen to it without paying good attention.

Next for Anberlin is "Dance, Dance, Christa Päffgen"a song that builds and builds to a crescendo and by the end of the song it's an epic sweeping story being told with the music. The drums are so deep and the guitar so hard-hitting that it's almost out of place for the melodic lyrics and vocals. Every time the chorus hits it's a little stronger and it's a little harder and it always pulls me with it.

Okay, now it's time for artist 2!
The artist I have actively listened to for probably the longest time is Switchfoot. They've got a great rock sound, and Jon Foreman (Who I've met in person by the way and who is totally awesome. He wears fedoras. Awesome, I tell you.) is awesome. (Wait. Didn't I say that already? Oh.)

The first song I can say is my favorite is "Chem 6a". It's very juvenile, but very mature at the same time in the lyrics, and the music is almost pop, but still has a good rock crunch to it. It's just a very very fun song to listen to.

The second song is one I'm sure you've heard, and it's called "Meant to Live." It's their fame and fortune song, the one that I really think pushed them into the mainstream. It's the first song I learned how to play on guitar, and it's such a truth-filled song.

Third artist that's worth mentioning in here is relient K. They've come a long way in the time they've been a band, from their first album's sound to their latest, and through experimenting with different sounds, different genre approaches (and different band members, if I have my facts right*), they've still managed to stay as popular and true to their fans and the music as you could ask for in a band.

The first song I'm going to pick is my current favorite (I love all of them, and I couldn't possibly choose just two. "The Last, the Lost, the Least" has such a hard rock feeling it's almost hard to understand how it sounds uplifting at the same time. But then you listen to the lyrics. And you understand.

The second song I'm going to post is one I've loved for years, and it's called "Gibberish." If you've already been listening to Relient K, you know this song, and you know why I've got a grin on my face just thinking about it. The lyrics, as you may have guessed, are gibberish. (And I know the words. Just start the song up and I'll sing along. Perfectly.)

I can't think of any other artists that would make a top five (At least not at the moment, since it's almost 11, and I have REMNANTS work to do tonight if I'm going to be able to make a post on October 31st.

OH DID I MENTION THAT? NO? WELL HERE YOU GO!

remnants.posterous.com is the NEW and totally BADASS website devoted specifically for REMNANTS. All the graphics are custom made by yours truly (Except for some that came with the basic theme I copied from Tumblr and applied to the Posterous blog it's hosted on). There is a fully functional sidebar with links to pages like an actual website, and not just a blog. I've spent the past two or three nights (and days) poring over the code and photoshop, getting it to work just right. There are a few things I'd like to tweak still, but overall, it's still the best it could be right now. Unless I actually built the thing from scratch. You don't need a Posterous account to comment, and I haven't figured out how to add Favoriting functionality back into the site (the template kinda borked it), but it's on its way. In the meantime, I'll be posting the covers and pages on my deviantART for you to fav until I get it working. HOWEVER, if you get the urge to leave comments, please leave them on THAT site, and not my dA, because I want to get the feedback through that site and not through my dA. I consider this my personal account, my fun account, and that site is much more of a professional project than anything else.

Anyway, you all need to set your calendars for Oct 31st. Set your Google alerts, your phone's clock alarm and inform your friends and family of where you're going to be that night. (It'll be up early enough for you guys to go Trick or Treating without fear of missing the first few pages. I'm going to be attending a NaNoWriMo get-together in town here and it's going to be an all-nighter write-in, which means I won't be going home until I've written a good 50 pages, minimum.) The rest of october is going to be busy busy busy for me. SO.

I still haven't decided on a release schedule for REMNANTS yet, either. I'm thinking every other/every third week, and I'll put up a couple of full pages each time. I don't work fast enough to put out a full issue even in a month (Not with classes and other projects, anyway), so it'll be small doses. Small INTENSE doses though. So you should be good.

Well, I think it's time for me to go to work on the comic now. I've got a deadline to hit!

Your remnants site looks pretty awesome. =D Yus yus. You're doing nano? :O What story? A new one?

I was thinking about doing nano . . . but I don't really have a story for it. I thought I did, but then it kinda went down the tubes--AGAIN!! :chainsaw: So frustrating. I thought about overhauling it yet again before the first of the month, but I don't really want to put that much effort into something that will mostly likely fail three days into NaNo. :P Soooooo, I went to the library and checked out a crapload of random non-fiction books and DVDs instead. Anyone else want to learn French just for the heck of it???
